Classical ballet is known for its rigorous technique and form that enables the dancer to move with the greatest agility, control lightness and grace. It’s origins date back to the 17th century french court with the creation of the Académie Royale de Danse. Classical ballet continues to use positions that elongate the lines and highlight the dancer’s features. With orchestral classical music, and the development of pointe technique in the 1800s, classical ballet continues to expand and create new works.
